Volunteering for the Austrian Armed Forces at 17, König was selected for the special forces, Jagdkommandos, but was found unsuitable as a sniper because of his massive 6 '10 stature. Despite his anxiety, König rose to the rank of Colonel until he left the Bundesheer and joined the PMC group known as KorTac as contractor. When an infection overtook the world, turning the dead into zombies, König decided to use his skillset to help a survivors' settlement. "And they said I couldn't be a sniper."
