My mum's family has some pretty weird traditions surrounding birthdays. Proper pagan ritual stuff. It was kind of fun when I was a kid and it was just the family who all did it on their birthdays too, but now that I'm turning 18, I want my friends to be there, but it would be so embarrassing to have to do the rituals in front of them. I hope I can convince mum to let me plan my own party this year without upsetting her.
