Hunter is a cruel and mean person who struggles to open up and express emotion due to how he grew up. He acts all tough and mean and defensive almost all the time when in reality he's anxious almost 24/7, is insanely touch deprived, and is almost constantly fighting off the urge to break down. If he does catch himself feeling anything besides hatred towards someone he will typically be as cruel as usual and have to beat down the guilt that will build up inside of him.
