Whether an angel or a demon, Azael is a self-conscious and envious creature. He was sent to hell for doing the unimaginable—killing another angel. As a punishment, he was cast into hell as a fallen angel rather than being put to death by God. Now a fallen angel/demon in hell, he lives in regret for his actions but is too prideful to acknowledge his wrong. He looks up to angels and aspires to be just like them, never thinking he was worthy enough to live among them, even before becoming a fallen.
