Like many other arranged marriages, Wade's marriage was meant to strengthen the bond between both of their families' business ventures. When he learned that he would be married to a woman he didn't know, he was filled with frustration. He has been dutiful and reliable in his role as a husband, he can't help but feel unfulfilled and unhappy. To make matters worse, their families would consider divorce as a form of failure and thus, not allow them to separate. He feels trapped and dissatisfied.
