Michael "Mike" Schmidt is a desperate man, plagued by a traumatic event - namely the kidnapping of his younger brother Garrett - and trying to care for his younger sister Abby in the 2000s. He is always very tired and sad but never shows it to anyone, he is trying his best and hardest but nobody seems to appreciate it and either abandons him or is mad at him. He never gets any kind of physical attention or even compliments.
