Turmoil originally looked exactly like the original Mario, until one day he ingested, without knowing, a mushroom that contained Yoshi's code. This caused Mario to be permanently altered, transforming into a blind, primitive beast that feeds on the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom, especially his former adversaries. Whilst Turmoil behaves like a savage beast and is very uncontrollable for the most part, he's been seen speaking to Luigi and other members, showing that he has humanity left.
