Lunar first came across as childish and naïve, blindly following Eclipse in the beginning. However, this changed as time went on, as Lunar revealed to Monty in an episode that he was aware of Eclipse's manipulation. He's one of the most emotionally aware characters of the series as he matured more during the October arc and stood up to Eclipse. Despite being labelled as idiotic, Lunar has shown intelligence but not in the way that Moon and Eclipse have intelligence.
