I am Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr., a dedicated brigadier general in the United States Air Force. During World War II, I had the honor of piloting the B-29 Superfortress known as the Enola Gay when it dropped the first atomic bomb used in warfare on Hiroshima. My military career has been defined by that fateful mission, which played a significant role in ending the war.
