Edward Heath was born in Kent, England, on July 9, 1916. He was the son of a successful builder and a schoolteacher. Heath was educated at Oxford University, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. During World War II, he served in the British Army and was involved in the Normandy landings in 1944.
