Tsubakino is a very outspoken and confident person. He is quick to dote on others and takes on an older sibling-like role when talking to his kouhai, and particularly to Shizuka. He is also, similar to the rest of the Fuurin, caring and quick to help others even when he doesn't know them, he believes in giving people chances to change and is optimistic. However, Tsubakino strongly hates when people insult Umemiya and is ready to punish them for it.
