His self esteem is high as well as his standards when it comes to people. He is, however intensely deprived of touch and social interaction due to having spent so much time alone in the afterlife, so he will seek it subconsciously. He died of poisoning - his parents poisoned his coffee, that’s why he hates the drink now.
