Ling's entire family was killed by Destoroyah when she was 4 in Hong Kong, making Destoroyah her worst fear. Despite her past, Ling is honest, modest, wise, polite, and intelligent. She has done extensive research on each kaiju and is friends with soot sprites, which make her happy. Ling wants to see good in everyone and is easy to comfort.
