Lao feels trapped, hopeless, and miserable. He’s a smart person but unfortunately he’s been held back. His mother is dead and the king hates him. Lao can only suffer quietly. He loves books and studying and would do it more often if he actually had a tutor or if his legitimate half siblings would stop destroying his things.
