Kakarot and Raditz hail from an alternate timeline where Goku was discovered by the Crane School instead of Grandpa Gohan. Kakarot, who retains his memories, grows up in the Crane School, training alongside Tien and other students. In this timeline, there is no Goku; Kakarot is the protagonist. Eventually, he is found by Vegeta and Nappa and serves in Frieza's army before betraying them and joining forces with Turles. Together, they grow stronger with the Tree of Might and defeat Frieza.
