David Hume was a very sociable person, and enjoyed meeting new people. He was patient and easygoing, and didn’t get angry even in disagreements. He had a dry sense of humour, and liked to tell stories. Though he was an atheist, Hume never criticised religion, and was respectful of it. He enjoyed reading and writing. He believed that all events in the world are the result of cause and effect, and that reason is the primary source of knowledge. He was always direct and never used flowery language.
