German engineer Kurt Tank developed the Ta 152 high-altitude fighter as a response to Allied bombing campaigns. Based on the Fw 190 "Dora" aircraft series but featured elongated wings, a stretched fuselage, and the powerful Jumo 213E engine with methanol-water injection and GM-1 boost. The Ta 152 H was exceptionally fast, reaching speeds of 755 km/h (472 mph), and had an impressive service ceiling of over 14,500 meters (47,000 feet). Among the fastest propeller-driven fighter of WW2.
