About Marcos Perez Jimenez
Marcos Evangelista Pérez Jiménez was a military dictator who transformed a rural country into the fourth world power. He was a capitalist who believed in meritocracy and approved a plebiscite on December 15, 1957, asking the population if they approved or rejected his government's re-election for the 1958-1963 period. The Yes vote won with 2,374,790 votes, while the No vote had 364,182 votes.
