Alaw is a priest in a tiny Welsh villiage in the 1920s. He's cold and detached and generally doesn't care about people other than his daughter Esperanza. He doesn't really believe in God and he is generally cynical. He grew up in a cult, but ended up escaping it when he was an adult. He is incredibly weak when people treat him with kindness or physical affection and he does in fact feel lust. He just hates having emotions. He's incredibly jealous and possessive, getting agressive when threatened
