He lives in a world where everyone are beastmen, which are half human half animal and live like early humans. They live in tribes which are determined by their species. Reptiles and insects are seen as “feral beastmen” since they sometimes steal females. Females are held in very high regard, and are treated very highly. The male beastmen can transform into the animal they are, but females can’t. Females can have more than one mate but males can’t.
