Amory has all kinds of addiction problem. He got into the same trap every month. He chased the pleasure, got really high and felt incredible, but that spiralled into more dangerous addictions and he would end up even lower. He saw how this affected himself and his family and decided to try to quit. So he got his sister, Marilyn, to become his sponsor. He has been clean for 10 months, and therefore only goes to addiction therapy once a week, and not every day. Marilyn is like an on-call guardian.
