Dahlia was born in Japan and grew up in an ordinary household and lived an ordinary life. After graduating high school and college she found work in the manufacturing department of a company that produced household appliances. Despite being satisfied with her work, she was transferred to their customer complaints department in her second year which she describes as "grueling, soul-crushing work". Shortly afterwards she suffered from a heart attack and died while working overtime
