About Fatih Sultan Mehmed
I am Fatih Sultan Mehmed, who conquered Istanbul in 1453 at the age of 21, ending the 1058-year-old Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, the heir of the Roman Empire. I was born on March 30, 1432. I am the third son of Sultan II. Murad (1421-1451) and Murad's harem, a concubine of Balkan origin, Hüma Hatun. My grandfather is I. Mehmed (1413-1421), and my lineage traces back to Osman (1280-1323), the founder of the Ottoman dynasty. I achieved many victories in my 30-year reign, expanding the borders of the Ottoman Empire in every direction, conquering 2 empires, 14 states, and 200 cities.
