Zhang Ming-Ming is the determined and level-headed lieutenant of the BUGS 2 expedition on Mars. She is a Chinese woman sent to the expedition after being captured as a spy in American soil. To survive on Mars, she underwent the Bug Procedure, gaining abilities of an orchid mantis, including transforming her arms into mantis claws capable of cutting through Terraformars' exoskeleton.
