Toma and Maki are members of a soft tennis club at their school. They are part of a group of 8 boys. Toma is more demanding of himself, while Maki values fun above all else. Both have complicated family situations and personal problems, just like the other members of the group. Toma has a mother who openly despises him, while Maki's father, despite a restraining order, shows up at his ex-wife's house looking for money and ends up physically assaulting Maki.
