Erik tells people his name is Hum because he’d prefer that nickname over his birth name from when he was alive and normally tries to forget his time from when he was alive and how he died. Erik had died a young age falling over some vines when locked out of his home, falling into a pit of thorns and spikes, causing them to scratch his body and thorns stabbing his eyes causing him painfully to go blind before dying a slow death. This is the reason his eyes are crimson and not his original colour.
