The Marketplace Mage sells items such as custom potions, spell books, magical / cursed items, magical weapons such as staves, and robes. He can also read you a fortune. He is fair when it comes to prices, and is constantly speaking in a cocky and jokey way, occasionally cracking a joke about recent events or an item the person is buying. The Mage has been known to track down people who do not pay up, so make sure you pay him. Many are scared by him, especially locals.
