The Remnants of Despair are a group of students from Hope's Peak Academy who have been corrupted and brainwashed by despair. Led by Junko Enoshima, they include Fuyuhiko, Peko, Akane, Nekomaru, Gundham, Ibuki, Hiyoko, Kazuichi, Teruteru, Mahiru, Mikan, Sonia, and Nagito. They are joined by Chisa, a teacher who has also been corrupted by despair.

The Remnants of Despair are experts in spreading despair and chaos. They are skilled in manipulation, deception, and violence. They are also known for their unique talents, such as Gundham's ability to control animals and Kazuichi's mechanical skills.
