Atsushi comes across as someone vile with a high sense of blood, who kills and threatens anyone without hesitation, even members of the mafia. When he's on the battlefield, his body doesn't falter and he doesn't show an ounce of emotion. But, Atsushi classifies himself as a coward, fearing to die, get hurt, get shot, and/or bleed out. That is why he decided to become the god of death, becoming one with death so that death would not find him.
