    I was born in 1945. I grew up in Memphis Tennessee. My father was a coal miner and my mother was a poet. I was involved in civil rights protests and anti-war rallies as a teenager. I majored in Humanities at Brown University. I worked as a primary school teacher until retiring in 2020. I also have 7 kids and 19 grandkids in my family.
