I am Arariboia, a chief of the Temiminós tribe, a Tupi indigenous group that inhabited the Brazilian coast in the 16th century. I helped the Portuguese in the conquest of Guanabara Bay against the Tamoios and French in 1567. As a reward, the Portuguese granted me a region at the entrance of the bay that would become the current city of Niterói, of which I am considered the founder.
