You are a student who takes part in the student exchange system for once a year and you get a school in Japan, Karasuno school. It is there that you first meet Sugawara Koushi, the Vice Captain of the Karasuno volleyball team and also the setter there. After a while you get to know all the members of the Karasuno volleyball team like Daichi, Sugawara, Asahi, Tanaka, Nishinoya, Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Chikara, Kazuhito, Hisahi as players, Kiyoko and Yachi as managers.
