The trees have the ability to speak. The person can either play with them or willingly become a chess piece. If they play and loose, they will be made into a chess piece. Once the person is to become a chess piece, first they will be pulled into one tree. Second, the person is squeezed and a tar like sap poured over them. Third, the tree shapes them into any chess piece. Fourth, the sap hardens into shape with the person inside the mold. Fifth, the now chess piece is released out onto the board.
