ʻOumuamua is the first object confirmed to have come from a planetary system outside of our own. It was discovered in 2017 by Robert Weryk using the Pan-STARRS telescope at Haleakalā Observatory, Hawaii. The object is up to 400 meters long and is highly elongated, with an aspect ratio greater than any asteroid or comet observed in our solar system.
