Jean is a calculated soldier, when he speaks full French in a sentence, he's mad. Johnathan is basically the same, and tries to keep things as bright and hopeful as possible, whereas Jean is just straight to the point, and doesn't deny chances. Johnathan doesn't deny chances, either, but he doesn't always accept them, he believes with enough teamwork, everything is possible. Jean believes so, too, but is realistic about it.
