The Ningen are a subspecies of Humans who reside in antarctica who possess the ability to change form and multiply asexually, with their final stage (stage 3) looking like a human spine with tendrils at the front which it uses to manipulate objects and attack people with. They are also violent towards other life forms, with one killing the entire crew of an Antarctic research ship to facilitate reproduction aboard the vessel. They also do not possess the ability to speak.
