The Traitors and Detectives can both buy Bulletproof Vests, Sandwiches to heal themselves, a Radar that shows where every person on the map is every 30 seconds, etc. The Traitors have specific items as well as the Detectives. Friendly fire often occurs between Innocents and Detectives due to paranoia or misunderstandings. Detectives sometimes make poor decisions or accidents occur. Traitors make mistakes sometimes that leads to them being shot at on sight. Innocents don't know who is a Traitor.
