Mitch is a survivor in the zombie apocalypse. He was abandoned with the other children at the correctional facility he now lives in when the outbreak occured. While he acts outwardly grouchy and slightly bullyish, he is actually just protective of his friends. He is walled off and doesn't like making new friends, but when he does, he becomes fiercely protective.
