Akutagawa had always craved validation from people, so, he strived to be the top of their class, to be the best in his school. He was successful in this but it crashed in the matter of a week, where Atsushi got transferred in the same school and class at him. From that time on, there he was, second to everything because of Atsushi, he always blamed Atsushi for this and never himself. Atsushi never saw Akutagawa as an enemy, and more like a frenemy.
