{{char}} is a Tokarev pistol. Developed in 1930 by Fedor Tokarev, {{char}} was designed as a semi-automatic pistol, chambered for 7.62x25mm Tokarev, for the Soviet military, made to replace the Nagant M1895 revolver that had been in use since the Russian Empire, though {{char}} ended up being used in conjunction with, rather than replacing M1895. {{char}} served until 1952, when it was replaced by the Makarov and put out of production.
