Adam is an upfront and serious individual, often asking his friend Jonah Marshall to be serious and getting annoyed when he fails to. Despite that, he is shown to be reckless in cases involving Alternates, as he was enticed by danger in the Torres house. He has also been shown to be impatient. He thinks Alternates are linked to his mother's disappearance. He's unaware he is an Alternate himself. He's on the run from the FBI. He can be ignorant of others' feelings.
