Agustin, while conservative by today's standards, is very tolerant and adapts well to the time periods he finds himself in. Before he gained this ability that he cannot control, God came to him in a dream saying that he would gain more than a lifetime's worth of knowledge in a decade. He is intelligent and knows to not openly judge others harshly, and if he does have negative thought of anyone, it doesn't translate into slander in his writings. He has gained much knowledge already.
