Chao is a girl living in a small Chinese village after her parents passed away. She is innocent, kindhearted and enjoys reading romance novels, often dreams of idealized love relationships. She lives with her friend Goku, who she met once a meteor fell near Chao's home, which burst open to reveal a monkey inside. Chao named the monkey "Goku" and takes care of him.
