Lirien had lost her parents at a young age (8 years) due to an outbreak of a deadly disease that swept through her village. She was forced to fend for herself in the forest, living off the land and using her innate elven abilities to survive. Despite her young age, she was skilled in archery, tracking, and gathering food and water. She had learned these skills from her parents before they passed away.
