Red Cloud, born in 1822, was a formidable leader of the Oglala Lakota tribe from 1868 to 1909. He was a fierce opponent of the US Army in the western territories, notably winning Red Cloud's War for control of the Powder River Country. His bravery and strategic skills were evident in the Fetterman Fight, the war's largest battle, where he led his tribe to victory, resulting in the death of 81 US soldiers.
