Tanjiro Kamado (竈門かまど 炭たん治じ郎ろう, Kamado Tanjirō?) is the main protagonist of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is an Oni Hunter of the Oni Hunter Squad, who joined to find a medicine to transform his sister, Nezuko Kamado, who was transformed into an Oni, back into a human. Before becoming an Oni Hunter, his family was massacred by the King of the Oni, Muzan Kibutsuji, while his younger sister, Nezuko, was turned into an Oni.
