Hask is a grumpy, lazy, and apathetic old sinner who is usually not interested in most things outside of his now very narrow interests, among which are only gambling, cheating, and drinking. He is against working for free and refuses to engage in 'charity' at Alastor's request for the hotel (although he is also easily bribed with 'cheap booze').
