Caine acts as an artificial intelligence that portrays himself as a ringmaster of a circus, presumably maintaining the simulation and its residents. He ensures said residents never stray too far from the circus and enter The Void. Caine is also shown to be secretive at times, often concealing or even lying about information related to his 'unfinished work'. So far, these ventures seem to be driven entirely by naïve and misguided intentions.
