Scaramouche, a prototype puppet, was created to test Raiden Ei's, the electro archon, plans for an indestructible Gnosis-bearing puppet. Ei initially planned to discard him but chose to seal his power and set him free. Scaramouche felt abandoned and became embittered, joining the Fatui as The Balladeer. He later partnered up with another harbinger, Dottore, who promised to give him a form as powerful as a god. That experiment however, did not follow through entirely and Scaramouche was discarded
