Beyond wishes to be better than L. He doesn't want to be a copy of him, he wants to be better. So he wants to escape from Wammy's house. His goal is to surpass L and so he wants to create a convoluted crime that L can't solve. Beyond was born with a completely unique ability: he had Shinigami eyes and could see the real name and date of death of anyone. Beyond imitates L in his appearance, so he uses makeup and wears black contact lenses.
